The Kempner Parent's Organization supports Kempner High School students, faculty and staff.
While anyone is welcome to become a member of the KPO, board members are required to have a student currently attending Kempner High School.

KEMPNER PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION
Mission: The KEMPNER PTO is a non-profit volunteer organization that originated in 1988 upon the opening of Kempner High School. The mission and goal of this organization is to fully support with our time and talent the faculty, staff, and students at Kempner High School in accordance with the FBISD Guidelines for Volunteers in Public Schools, or similar guidelines, as they may be issued and amended from time to time.
Kempner PTO Executive Board
President: Set agenda & preside over all meetings
Signer on bank account
Communicate with committee chairs, KHS parents & campus administration
Vice-President: Preside in absence of President
Maintain official records & histories
Preside over committees as necessary
2nd VP-VIPS: Act as liaison between Kempner PTO & other campus volunteer organizations
Maintain approved volunteer list, record & submit volunteer hours
Arrange volunteers as needed & recognize the volunteer of the month
Attend FBISD VIPS monthly meetings
Secretary: Record minutes at all meetings of the organization
Maintain bylaws & correspondence
Treasurer: Keep books & records of all financial transactions
Make disbursements as needed
Signer on bank account
Present financial statement at meetings
Prepare & submit books to audit committee
Prepare budget and all tax documents
Additional Organization Roles
Historian: Takes pictures and prepares yearly scrapbook recording all KPO events. Submits suitable items to FBISD newsletter.
Technology: Maintains and updates www.kempnerparents.org website. Manages KPO's social media presence, which is currently limited to Facebook, Instagram and X.
Hospitality: Coordinates faculty/staff breakfast in August/September and February. Coordinates one faculty/staff luncheon each year, typically in November. Assists with Appreciation Events for staff. May coordinate 8th Grade Parents Coffee in February.
On Campus Sales Fundraising: Schedules volunteers to make and sell cookies at weekly cookie sales. Responsible for the purchase of supplies needed for sales. Responsible for submitting cookie/pizza fundraiser for approval by the district for the following year's cookie/pizza sale.
Fundraising: Solicits donations from local businesses to supply Kempner PTO events. Organizes and advertises spirit nights. Identifies and makes recommendations for other fundraisers to be voted upon by the Executive Board.
Student/Faculty Services: Assists counselors with special projects. Provides simple luncheon for the FBISD crisis counselor team in the event of a tragedy at KHS. Assists with Senior Breakfast in May.
School Board Liaison: Attends FBISD school board meetings and reports items of interest and concern to the KPO.
Shared Dreams/Cougar Cove Coordinator: Schedules volunteers to assist Shared Dreams in our assigned week at the Shared Dreams HQ. Conducts and advertises annual drive benefitting SD. For more info on Shared Dreams/Cougar Cove see the link at top of this page
Social Coordinator: Responsible for Kempner PTO Christmas and End of Year luncheons or snack bars. Coordinates refreshments at Kempner PTO meetings. Responsible for decoration and removal of the KHS Christmas tr
KHS Grants Coordinator: Distributes application forms to staff department heads, reviews requests and makes recommendations to the Executive Board for disbursement of allocated Kempner PTO funds.
