Cougar Cove
KHS Cougar Community: Urgent Request
The KHS Cougar Cove needs your immediate help! Supplies are extremely low for students in need!
Suggested items are listed below.
Please donate now, during the Donation Drives, and throughout the fall and spring semesters with items and/or a donation amount to keep services ongoing throughout the school year for students in need.
Additional Information:
Kempner High School (KHS) was given the opportunity to be one of the first FBISD schools to be recognized as an “Exemplary Partnership” campus. Since 2020, KHS and the Kempner PTO has partnered with FBISD Collaborative Communities/Shared Dreams to prepare and stock a room where students faced financial or challenging situation may receive immediate assistance.
We call our “Exemplary Partnership” Cougar Cove. Cougar Cove is meant to be a sustainable, ongoing, campus-wide program that will serve Kempner students. It is the hope of the KHS PTO that this program will help to remove a small burden from their family and let them know KHS and the KHS PTO care.
Cougar Cove is housed in Room 504 on the first floor and staffed by parent and community volunteers, with an approved FBISD background check. Cougar Cove will be open on Mondays and Fridays from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm during the school year, excluding school holidays.
We know that food insecurity and lack of school supplies and personal care items not only impact the health of our students, but also the ability to also be more focused on their education. This is the reason that the Cougar Cove provides food, toiletries, and school supplies free of charge to students that visit the Cougar Cove. As privacy and confidentiality are a priority in serving our students, we only ask for a student ID number for students who wish to be assisted. If you are in a situation in which this program will benefit you as a KHS student, we look forward to serving you.
The KHS KPO needs your support to keep Cougar Cove going strong and rely on donations. Please support the Cougar Cove, by donating non-perishable food items, toiletries, and school supplies. We look forward to accepting your donation as the KHS KPO strives to support our students and make our community a better place. School donations are accepted school year round submitted to the front office of KHS during school hours.
In addition, donation drives are held in the fall and spring.
Fall 2023 Donation Drive: October 9, 2023
Spring 2024 Donation Drive: Monday, February 19, 2024
